Jump On The Cloth Diapering Bandwagon: Going Green Can Save You Lots Of Green

By Sherri Kuhn

Does the idea of using cloth diapers make you cringe? Cloth diapering has come a long way. Gone are the bulky folds of cloth held in place by massive diaper pins that your mother (or grandmother) may have used. Diaper companies are jumping on the bandwagon and offering so many cute options you may not even consider disposables for your baby. Continue reading about the benefits of cloth diapers…

Benefits of cloth

Cloth diapers are soft against your baby’s tender skin and free from chemicals that disposable diapers contain to make them more absorbent. To keep baby’s skin from developing a painful rash, diapers need to be changed as frequently as possible — whether you are using cloth or disposable. Today’s cloth diapers have adorable covers in cute patterns, designed to fit your baby’s contours and provide better protection. Closures with Velcro or snaps make changing a cloth diaper as easy as disposables.

Who loves cloth?

Many celebrities have been big fans of cloth diapers for years, and many more seem to be jumping on board. Among celebs said to have stashed cloth diapers in their diaper bag are Tori Spelling, Heidi Klum, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alyssa Milano and Denise Richards. With all of the cute styles and trendy patterns available, who wouldn’t want the paparazzi to snap a photo?

Mother Nature’s opinion

What about the environment? While it’s estimated that disposable diapers take years to completely break down in landfills, cloth diapers can be reused for years and for subsequent babies. While you do use resources such as water and electricity to launder cloth diapers, the effect on the environment may still be less.

Save some green

One of the lesser-known benefits of cloth diapering is the amount of money you can save over the period of time from your baby’s birth until she is potty trained. The estimated cost of $300 – $500 for a complete set of cloth diapers seems high until you compare the $2,500 price tag parents will shell out for disposables.

Jessica Simpson, Lily Aldridge And 15 Other Celebrity Mamas Taking Over Twitter With Adorable Baby Pics

Josie Maran's, Hilary Duff's and Tori Spelling's babies

Celebrities have never been shy about showing off their bodies, vacations or friends on Twitter, and sometimes they really go over the line. But there’s one thing they can never share enough of, if you ask us: babies pictures! Earlier this week, Victoria’s Secret supermodel Lily Aldridge gave us the first glimpse of her nearly 1-month-old daughter with husband and Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, Dixie Pearl. Dixie’s Twitter debut features her tiny feet in pink, bunny rabbit footie pajamas. Can we get a resounding awwww? There is no mistaking that this pic is precious, but it does come as a bit of a tease. When do we get to see this little munchkin’s face?

Following in the footsteps of Lily and other celebs who have chosen to announce the birth of their children via Twitter, Curly Sue star Alisan Porter didn’t waste any time tweeting a pic of her baby boy, Mason, born only yesterday. Other stars like Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson and Alessandra Ambrosio have also recently introduced their bundles of joy on Twitter. These adorable twitpics confirm that celebrities’ children are truly genetically blessed and living the G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S life. We look forward to the possibility of a future modeling or acting career for these youngsters, but for now, we are just happy to get to see their lovable looks. Take a look at some of the cutest celebrity baby Twitpics. They are bound to melt your heart!

Tori Spelling’s Comeback Kid

Posted: July 11, 2012 by Lisa Estall

Tori Spelling has shared another of Liam’s witty quips on Posted on Wednesday (July 11) – she tells the story of when she was trying to get him ready for bedtime.

Tori writes: “A few nights ago it was getting late and it was almost the kids’ bedtime – okay, that’s a fib. In theory, it was almost their bedtime, but since summer vacation started they’ve been pushing to stay up later and later and, being a working mom, I have to admit I enjoy my evenings with them. So, I might be at fault for not enforcing a stricter summer bedtime…”

She continues to describe Liam as having a lot of energy.

“Anyway, it was getting late and Liam was not winding down from his day. He was super-hyper. Borderline crazy pants, hopping all over the place. Finally, I said “Liam, it’s time to settle down now,” and he turned and shrugged and said ‘Mom, this body has a mind of its own!’ Wow! I had to turn away to hide my smile. At 5 he was already learning witty comeback answers!”

Can’t wait to hear what younger siblings Hattie, 9 months, and Stella, 4, have to say in the near future! Meanwhile the pregnant mom has expressed her own opinion on wearing bikinis.

She recently told Celebuzz, “Preggers deserve to sit poolside too! I think the pregnant body is beautiful and not something to be embarrassed by or hidden away.”
